Again for those who know the Bucharest very well and are old enough to remember (this is not my case:)), this is the old Unirii Square with Hanul lui Manuc in the background and Unirii Market in the left. Almost everything is gone now, except some buildings from Halelor Street like Hanul lui Manuc and the old hairdresser’s shop from the corner (this old hairdresser’s shop it is still a hairdresser’s shop these days). The pictures are made by my father, Pompiliu Galmeanu in 1967   Â

Hanul lui Manuc e de fapt o cladire reconstituita. Nu stiu daca pe locul acela ramasesera mai mult decat urme, fundatii vechi, pivnite, ziduri sau poate nici atat.
Se vede o hala mare si o piata centrala deschisa. Piata era piata, cum scrie la carte, cu gaste, zarzavaturi etc pe un loc foarte vechi, cu aceeasi destinatie de cand e orasul. Tot acolo era si “piata de flori”, un loc populat de tiganci cu fuste inflorate si cosuri mari. Piata de flori era in jurul unui fel de turnuletz cu geamuri. Eram prea mic sa-mi amintesc la ce folosea turnuletzul, dar acolo era capul unei linii de travai. Totul in mijlocul unei forfote orientale, drept in buricul tirgului. Piata avansa binisor si continua si in spate, pe Splai.
La data cand e luata imaginea (probabil intr-o zi de sarbatoare ca prea e liniste) comertul era restrans, mai mult in hala si in dreapta acesteia unde se vad tonetele cu acoperis. Piata de flori nu mai exista.
N-as zice ca am nostalgia patrunjelului si cepei pe post de “centru civic”.
Dar nici fîntini de ciment fara apa si nici reclame acoperind fatadele nu ma entuziasmeaza estetic.
ce mi se pare cel mai interesant e ca fotografiile sunt facute de tata si fiu, la distanta de decenii..
@Sorin S,Hanul lui Manuc nu este reconstituit,ci este cladirea originala.Pana la reorganizarea intregului complex acolo locuiau oameni cu chirie.Am avut un coleg de servici care a locuit in doua camere timp de 15 ani si habar nu avea ce reprezenta cladirea.
